Did you know that Triad has a Special Olympics Team?

There are 21 athletes on the team. The athletes compete in the following events: bocce ball, bowling, track and field, basketball skills, soccer skills, and snowshoeing. New this year to Triad will be powerlifting. We will have one high school student competing in this event. Lexie Cuppett is the head coach. Kelly Garrett, Jacque Quirk, Bethany Mathis, Dana Massie, and Ashley Butcher are all volunteer coaches.

Special Olympics Winter Games 2017

Our Special Olympic athletes will compete this Sunday, Dec. 11th in the snowshoeing competition. Those earning gold will get to move on to state competition in Galena, IL at the winter games in February. The athletes competing in snowshoeing 50 meter race are Morgan Pyle, Egypt Weathers, Rebecca Wick, Landon Bock, Tayton Giles, Hayden James, and Parker Rodgers. Those competing in 100 meter race are Morgan Pyle, Egypt Weathers, Rebecca Wick, Landon Bock, Tayton Giles, Hayden James, Parker Rodgers, Jacob Lauber, Hunter Lawhorn, Desmond Whiteley, and Jared Levo. Those competing in the 200 meter race are Jacob Lauber, Hunter Lawhorn, Desmond Whiteley, and Jared Levo.

Congratulations to our Summer Games athletes. The following students participated in the Bocce Ball games and won awards: Sophie Kreher earned a participation ribbon; Evan Siekmann and Hayden James earned bronze medals. Tayton Giles, Nichole Voegele, Jared Levo, Jacob Lauber, and Desmond Whiteley earned silver medals. Parker Rodgers, Morgan Pyle, and Landon Bock each earned gold medals.

A big congratulations to Parker Rodgers who earned a gold medal at the Special Olympic district bowling tournament and then earned a silver medal at the sectional bowling tournament.
